Nigel Crosthwaite - Drums

Nigel started his career at the age of 13, playing modern jazz in his secondary school band. Within two years he had progressed to the Ray Denning Big Band playing summer season at Pontins holiday camp.

By 1974 Nigel was playing pop covers in Lucifer Sam where he stayed until 1978 when he joined Spinova Solo who covered a wide range of musical styles from blues to heavy rock.

Nigel turned professional in 1980, touring Yugoslavian holiday resorts in a band called Star.

He returned to the UK in 1983 and joined rhythm and blues outfit The Graham Neil Band, moving to The Bawlers in 1986 who played a mixture of Fabulous Thunderbirds and Ry Cooder songs.

From 1988 Nigel got together with some old friends to form The Unknowns, which featured Richard Parker on vocals, Alan Golding on bass and lost but not forgotten Mick Baker on guitar.

The new millennium and a new band. Nigel joined surfer friend Len Hirons and formed Southern Blues with Len’s son Andy on slide guitar and Unknowns singer Richard picking up bass guitar. And he’s never looked back…
